Founder, CEO, Cellist
Current City: New York, NY.
Current Job and Entrepreneurial Focus: I am a serial entrepreneur having started two companies at the intersection of arts & culture and technology. I am an angel investor, board member and mentor/coach for several start-up technology companies and am actively working on my next start-up business idea.
Notable Prior Jobs: Founder, CEO Patron Technology (patrontechnology.com) and (patronmanager.com) - a company that provided cloud-based ticketing/fundraising and marketing technology to over 800 arts & cultural organizations, built on the Salesforce.com platform. Prior to that I was the founder of CultureFinder.com, an early innovator in web-based cultural event listings and online ticketing, funded by AOL and Comcast Ventures. I also served as the Executive Director of the American Symphony Orchestra in New York City, producing concerts at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.
When I Started Performing: I'm pretty sure I started performing cello at 8 years old in public school.
Performing Arts Background: Juilliard Pre-college; Oberlin Conservatory.
How did your performing arts background supercharge your entrepreneurship? I am a strong believer that the skills and values instilled in musicians carry-over directly to running an entrepreneurial business. Particularly the notion of a long-term and iterative focus on continuous improvement and a goal-orientation of excellence. At Patron Technology we built a thriving team of artist-techies which validated this approach.
Favorite Performer: Leonidis Kavakos.
